It was during the 80’s when we endeavoured to punch above our weight. The long standing gulf war had led to soaring fuel prices. Fuel being the primary raw material, we were hit where it hurt us the most. It rendered our horizontal engine products obsolete. It however kicked up the demands for fuel efficient engines. It forced the change on us. Either we kept pace or else we would be perished. It offered no quarters to us.
In our ceaseless quest we migrated to square engine design. The automobile sector as always acted as trend setter big brother to diesel engine industry. Taking the cue from the success of legendary Formula 1Engines, COMET migrated to Square Engine design with intent to harness the attributes of reliability and durability of square engine design.
We undertook an ambitious project - Development of Portable Series.It took us almost SIX years of dogged determination, diligence and dedication to deliver the goods and enormous amount of patience, persistent and painstaking efforts and above all perseverance to swim against the current and in uncharted waters.
We finally succeeded in reaching the end of the tunnel. The launching ceremony was held in Kolhapur and Mr. P.N. GOSH, the dynamic chairman of SBI, presided over the event. It was indeed a red letter day for us.
During the long, lonely and arduous journey we realized what it takes to undertake development of a brand new series of products and relentlessly pursue it through difficult and demanding times and achieve the seemingly impossible goal of commercial production and introduction to the market.
Our 3rd generation COMET’s ‘Cub’ and ‘Colt’ diesel engines provide ‘refreshing change’ at affordable prices. These new variants of diesel engines drastically reduced the operational costs on account of overall weight reduction from 145kg to 73kg making it portable.
The ripple effects of weight reduction netted the signification fuel efficiency by nearly 50%. Our machines deliver higher HP output with lesser efforts. This dramatically reduces the normal wear and tear.
Our portable series highlight our profile as leading diesel engine manufacturers and one of the pioneer players who came up with R&D backed vertical engine configuration when the market was over crowded with horizontal engines.
BY now we simply got addicted to the way of genuinely developing better products that would not only meet but clearly best the industry bench marks. Thus our penchant for perfection became our irresistible passion.
